About The Classes

Join us in Atlanta for Acro Jams and Classes. Jams are all-level gatherings hosted by community members that include informal teaching, skills sharing, spotting, and community building. Acro classes are structured gatherings at set times/days designed to teach specific skills, washing machines, or techniques. Skill levels for each class vary (see below) however, no one is ever excluded from any class, regardless of whether it’s their first time attending or are a seasoned acro veteran - we strongly believe there is always something to be gained from showing up to a class or jam, whether it’s learning how to spot, practicing styles of communication, or picking up inspiration for the future. If you’re ever worried about showing up to a class or jam, please reach out to the host to discuss.

Most acro in Atlanta takes place Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Saturdays or Sundays (depending on availability, weather, and interest).

Tuesday Jams (All Levels): Atlanta’s largest community jam! During the winter months we are located indoors at Peach Pit Gymnastics, starting at 7PM and wrapping up at 10PM. There is a $10 fee to maintain the facility we use. During the summer months, you’ll find us at Old 4th Ward Skatepark along the Beltline strip 5PM to dark. When outside, the jam is FREE. No partner required.

Thursday Intermediate Class (Intermediate & always adjusted based on attendance):

The Intermediate Thursday class is designed to help you put the fundamental skills of acro to use by introducing pops, whips, more dynamic machines, and standing dynamic skills. Class starts at 7:15PM followed by the Fundamental Acro Skills Class (8:15PM) then an all-levels jam (9:15PM). Located at Peach Pit Gymnastics. Class is $20 and includes attendance to the Fundamentals class and the jam, (Fundamentals class and jam are $15, jam only is $5).

• No partner required, but we recommend being able to confidently execute Bird presses & swivels, Foot to Hand, Ninja Star, and High Bird (standing). If you have any questions about attendance, please email or reach out on social media (IG @acrocastaways).

Thursday Fundamental Acro Skills Class (Beginner-Intermediate): Want to build those fundamental acro skills? This is the place. This class is designed to help you build a solid foundation of beginner acro skills and start to work from static poses into more movement. Class content varies each week but you can usually expect to learn poses, transitions, flowy machines, and some fun standing poses and counterbalances. Class starts at 8:15PM followed by an all-levels jam (9:15PM). Located at Peach Pit Gymnastics. Class is $15 and includes the jam, but if you’re just showing up to the jam, its $5. No partner required.

Sunday Beginner Class (All Levels): Every second and fourth Sunday of the month a Beginner class is held from 6-8PM. The target audience for this class are first time acroers. This class introduces language, gets you acquainted to appropriate touch and consent, spotting, basing, and flying. This class does require a vaccine per the request of the teachers. Located at Intown Tumbling. $20 for a 2 hour class.

Weekend Jams (All Levels): Saturday and Sunday jams are ad hoc depending on weather, interest, and availability. Like all our jams, they are all-levels and no partner required. Check out the @acrocastaways instagram for weekend jam details.
